A Fix My Chess master

Boa

The squeeze that never lets go

An original archetype: a fictional coach who teaches a real school of chess through historical public games, always cited to their true players. He represents no one, and impersonates no one.

“Tighten slowly. By the time it hurts him, it is already too late.”
His creed · Boa

What it cures in your game

If your dominant leak is allowed tactics, Boa is your antidote. The way he plays — the same you see in these games — is exactly what you need to internalize. In Fix My Chess you choose him as your master and train under his style, game by game, until that leak closes.

His life in chapters

  1. 1951–1974

    Quiet by design

The early games of my school win without noise: no fireworks, no speeches — a junior world title, a Candidates cycle swept, and hardly a single unnecessary move in the whole climb. I teach them to cure you of the need to be spectacular. The scoreboard does not award style points.

  2. 1975–1983

    Winning as the answer

A title arrives across an empty board, and the world calls it unearned. The answer, in this corpus, is nine years of winning nearly every tournament in sight. Learn the deeper lesson under the results: when they question you, do not argue. Tighten the grip one square at a time.

  3. 1984–1990

    The thinnest margins

Five matches against the same opponent, decided by the finest margins the game allows — a point here, half a point there, across years. I teach these games as the anatomy of the squeeze: take away one square, then another, and let his impatience do the rest. Most attacks die of suffocation, not refutation.

  4. 1991–2026

    Efficiency does not retire

Late in the corpus there is a tournament result so clean they still measure the others against it. No wasted motion, no wasted emotion. That is the whole school on one page: improve your worst piece, deny his best one, and never hurry. Positions ripen. Let them.
